This is the June 1975 edition of Whispers. Edited and published by Stuart David Schiff , Fayetteville, NC. This is issue is inscribed and signed by Stuart Sciff. This serious, quarterly small press magazine was devoted to horror, fantasy and the macabre, and intended to take the place of The Arkham Collector. Though having no official connection with Arkham House, Whispers published fiction and poetry by authors published by Arkham House, along with news, articles, criticism, and artwork. Contents include 'The Glove' by Fritz Leiber, 'Hamadryad' by Carl Jacobi, 'Ladies in Waiting' by Hugh B. Cave, 'One Day in the Life of H P Lovecraft' by Frank Belknap Long, and much more. Book is tight and clean with minimal edgewear. No torn, stained, or loose pages.

The Seller States: IS #4 October 1971. Fanzine published by Tom Collins, who was a major force in Lovecraft fandom in the '70s. This is a special tribute issue to AUGUST DERLETH, who had just died. It contains original articles by RAY BRADBURY, ROBERT BLOCH, FRITZ LEIBER, AVRAM DAVIDSON, LIN CARTER, FRANK BELKNAP LONG, ROBERT A.W. LOWNDES, JOSEPH PAYNE BRENNAN, EMIL PETAJA, PETER RUBER, A.E. VAN VOGT, MARK SCHORER, COLIN WILSON, GAHAN WILSON, MANLY WADE WELLMAN and a couple others. Also, a short, satirical piece, "The Last Necronomicon" by LARRY NIVEN. Nice portrait of Derleth by Tim Kirk. Quite good condition. This is offset-printed, on good quality paper. Minor wear to the covers.

Errata leaf laid in. The discussion was recorded on 24 October 1963. Symposium panelists were Fritz Leiber, Robert Bloch, Sam Russell, Arthur Jean Cox and Leland Sapiro, with corrections and annotations to the transcript by August Derleth.

{This is a rather obscure item of Lovecraftiana but it is not 70 years old as far as I can tell. In fact if one goes to one reads this, "summer of 1972, and the first printing of 35 numbered hardbounds and 1000 self-covered volumes was sold out by summers' end. In September 1972, 500 copies of a 2nd printing were ordered, since the printer would only hold the plates for 6 months. These do not qualify as a 2nd edition, just as second printing because the only changes were two removals: the $3.00 on the top of page 2 and the note at the bottom of page 3 as to the 1000 limited print run.".
