"A surrealist play centering around Lovecraft." - Joshi III-G-iv-6. The Margaret Brundage cover art is "borrowed" from a 1930's issue of Weird Tales (not credited on c.p.). Wrapers rubbed, VG free of any former owner markings.

Artistic Representation of Mi Go

The seller states: Up for auction is an original illustration by Arkham House cover artist, Herb Arnold. This is one of two Arnolds I have up for auction this week. This one depicts Lovecraft's creation, "The Mi Go"from "Fungi From Yuggoth".This was published in the book "HPL: A Tribute to Howard Phillips Lovecraft" edited by Meade and Penny Frierson. (1972) The book itself was a collection of essays and memoirs by friends and fans of H.P. Lovecraft. It is also illustrated throughout by various artists including Herb Arnold. The piece is approx. 9" x 4 1/2" and is inscribed, on the back, to Stuart (Schiff). It is dated (Dec.1971) and signed in full by Arnold.

Galpin Letter to Squires After Derleth's Death

Interesting letter of over 600 words from one of H. P. Lovecraft's oldest friends (they began corresponding in 1918 - "Galpin is the most brilliant, accurate, steel-cold intellect I have ever encountered" - HPL) to publisher, bookseller & bibliographer, Roy A. Squires discussing the disposing of Galpin's Lovecraft collection. This letter is of interest to Arkham House collectors in that Galpin notes..."by now you must have heard of the sudden death of Augie Derleth last Sunday, from a heart attack...I have no idea what is going on or what is planned about the future of Arkham House...his loss comes as a shock to me and that he was a fine person and warm friend...I doubt Wandrei can carry on effectively but we shall see..."

Other topics of discussion include another HPL friend Samuel Loveman's health and the selling of his collection to Gerry de la Ree.

Lovecraft's Legacy: 1971 (Tom Collins)

The Seller States: IS #4 October 1971. Fanzine published by Tom Collins, who was a major force in Lovecraft fandom in the '70s. This is a special tribute issue to AUGUST DERLETH, who had just died. It contains original articles by RAY BRADBURY, ROBERT BLOCH, FRITZ LEIBER, AVRAM DAVIDSON, LIN CARTER, FRANK BELKNAP LONG, ROBERT A.W. LOWNDES, JOSEPH PAYNE BRENNAN, EMIL PETAJA, PETER RUBER, A.E. VAN VOGT, MARK SCHORER, COLIN WILSON, GAHAN WILSON, MANLY WADE WELLMAN and a couple others. Also, a short, satirical piece, "The Last Necronomicon" by LARRY NIVEN. Nice portrait of Derleth by Tim Kirk. Quite good condition. This is offset-printed, on good quality paper. Minor wear to the covers.
