Alternate Muriel Eddy Memoir Surfaces

Amazingly, a rare Muriel Eddy memoir has surfaced. Privately published in 1945, the first page seems similar to the text of the 1945 memoir of Rhode Island on Lovecraft.

The seller states: I have not been able to locate on the internet another copy of this unique, signed, booklet. Its title is: H. P. Lovecraft, Esquire, Gentleman, by Muriel E. Eddy, Privately Printed, no date, circa 1945, first edition. This softcover booklet measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and is six pages--each of which is printed on one side only. It is in Near Fine condition with some uneven fading to the light-green covers; the contents are in Fine condition. Lovecraft was a very close friend of Muriel Eddy and her husband from 1923 until Lovecraft's death in 1937. This booklet, signed by Muriel Eddy on the first page (please see image #2 below), includes her memories of Lovecraft, his visits to the Eddy's home, his death, etc. This privately-published booklet consists of seven sheets of 8 1/2" x 11" paper (i.e., the six text pages plus the cover) folded in half and attached by two staples. There is no former owner's bookplate inside, no writing inside (except Eddy's inscription), no foxing, and all pages are firmly attached to the covers.
