A Real Life Yig?

Lovecraft revised Zealia Bishop's story of Yig – but was there really a Yig? Maybe. In the May/June 200 issue of Archaeology (p.18) we read, “…excavations in a 96 foot high pyramid at the Late Classic Maya site of Ek Balam (Black Jaguar) in northern Yucatan have yielded the remains of a king known as Ukit-Kan-Lek (the Snake Gourd) who reigned over the city from CE 790-835 … the tomb contained …ceraminc vessels … which bore the king’s name, jade pieces {shades of Cthulhu worship !! – CP} … and inscribed conch shells … the construction ,,, is not fully understood … the six level structure is built upon four earlier buildings {Just like rats in the Walls premise !! – CP}.”

Well there you have it. Fact can be stranger than fiction.

Ia! Ukitkanlek!! The Snake Gourd King!
