Westminster, MA

Lovecraft indicates in at least two writings that he spent the "Summer" of 1899 in Westmnister, MA. Tracing notes, it appears that Susan routinely summered in rural and remote areas away from the heat of Providence. At least three occassions between 1893 and 1899 are referenced. It also seems they timed just after Lovecraft's birthday- a last moment reprieve from him being tutored in Septembers.

But Westminster, MA?

I found a few postcards that shows the quaintness of it, but not able to trace precisely why this was chosen over any other random location. Susan's interests were music, singing, painting, poetry, French literature.
